Favorite DIY Summer Dog Treats

Is there anything better than a frozen treat on a hot summer day? Now your pup can have one, too! Here are some of our very favorite summer dog treats for our best friends!

Frozen Broth Dog Treats

This is one of the easiest, tastiest treats to make. Simply pour your pup’s choice of broth (chicken, beef, vegetable, and bone broth can all be used) into an ice tray and freeze. Want to add a little flair? Mix the broth with a bit of peanut butter and parsley before freezing.

Frozen Kong Treat

Fill any Kong toy with peanut butter, yogurt, broth, etc., and pop it in the freezer. Not only will your dog love the tasty treat, but it will also keep their brain active!

Peanut Butter and Banana Ice Cream

  • 1 banana, diced and frozen
  • 2 tbsp of peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp of plain yogurt (you can use a non-dairy alternative if your furkid is lactose intolerant)

Blend ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth. Freeze mixture. Serve in single-serving scoops. For an extra treat, sprinkle with pup-friendly fruit or mini dog treats.

Watermelon Summer Dog Treats

  • 1 ½ cups frozen watermelon
  • ¼ cup yogurt (or a non-dairy alternative)

Wash and remove the seeds from the watermelon. Dice and freeze chunks. Blend frozen watermelon and yogurt in a blender or food processor. Serve immediately.

Let frozen treats sit for a minute or two at room temperature to soften a little and prevent dental injuries. Consider your dog’s dietary needs or restrictions when making treats. And all treats are in moderation! Have a safe, cool, and sweet summer!
